COMING SOON IN 2024: NEW PLACES TO EAT AND DRINK IN MOBILE

2024 started off hot with new restaurants. Every part of town saw really nice additions to the food and drink scene added. Some were even mention in Southern Living, like Penton’s Bistro, Velvet Pig, and Box Owt. The last few months of 2024 look promising as well. Here’s our list of the newest places to eat in Mobile, Alabama.

Coming Soon: 

1. Parc Le Tralour 

Mobtown Slice, Taco Hermanos, Panini Pete’s, Pickled Chicken

107 St. Francis Street

Panini Pete’s newest concept is a food hall located in the former Moon Pie store inside the RSA Trustmark Bank Building. Housed inside will be four of Panini Pete Hospitality brands – Mob Town Slice, Taco Hermanos, and Astronaut Chicken will be serving pizza, tacos, and chicken for hungry patrons. The fourth spot will be the return of Panini Pete’s! His famous paninis, sandwiches, burgers, and beignets will make their return to Downtown Mobile in July 2024. The food hall will be open for breakfast, lunch, and will open up for event space in the evenings according to Nick Dimario, partner at Panini Pete’s Hospitality Group. Expect to see lounge chairs, games, along with live music.

2. LeMoyne’s Chophouse

251 Government Street

A quality steakhouse is in the works for Downtown Mobile. The Admiral Hotel is undergoing an extensive renovation that will include the removal or Corner 251 and the addition of an upscale restaurant with high-quality cuts of meat, fresh local seafood, along with cocktails and wine. Expect this new restaurant, named after Mobile’s founding brothers to open in 2024.

3. Buzzed Bull Creamery

362 Dauphin Street

Buzzed Bull Creamery is introducing a unique experience by utilizing liquid nitrogen to create fresh, premium ice creams and milkshakes, with over 30 flavors available for customization. They offer hand-crafted treats for all ages, including a special line of alcohol-infused ice cream and milkshakes for adults starting at 5% ABV. This spot should be a hit downtown especially on ArtWalk nights!

4. Great Day Latte

10 S. Conception St.

Downtown Mobile’s newest coffee shop is coming soon in 2024. Located right around the corner from The Noble South and along the Mardi Gras parade route on Conception Street, Great Day Latte will serve latte’s, frappes, teas, along with pastries and some other food items.

5. Amici Wine Bar and Trattoria

7899 Cottage Hill Road

The longtime owners of Domke Market are rebranding and will be moving in to the former Hungry Owl space on Cottage Hill Road near Schillinger. They are planning to feature authentic Italian dishes, and playing to the strength of what made them popular, their wine bar! The space should be plenty big for private events and large parties which should be a hit in West Mobile.

6. Toa Hot Pot and BBQ

Bel Air Mall

Coming to the former PF Changs location in Bel Air Mall is Tao Hot Pot and BBQ. The Asian style restaurant will be serving up dishes hot pot style. You’ll find dishes with flavored broths and meats. The first hot pot style restaurant will be coming soon to Bel Air Mall.

7. Big White’s Wings

263 Dauphin St. 

Big White’s Wings is not new to the Mobile area, they served the city of Prichard for several years with their restaurant on Wilson Ave. Now Chef White is back as a vendor at Box Owt. His famous Stupid Fries will continue to be on the menu along with the delicious wings and dozens of different sauces to accompany your taste buds.

 

Newly Opened:

1. Penton’s Bistro

219 Conti St.  

Taking the place of the long running Cafe 219 is Penton’s Bistro. Expect a fantastic lunch menu with soups, salads, and sandwiches followed by a happy hour menu with charcuterie at the corner bar and dinner specials that will be a more fine dining menu. This should be a great downtown lunch spot and also great spot for dinner an drinks combined with a night at the Saenger Theatre. It’s also a stop on our Summer Cocktail Crawl coming this July!

2. The Velvet Pig 

755 Monroe Street

For evening and late night eats, this is the hottest new place in Mobile. The Velvet Pig is located inside The Ice Box on Monroe Street. Whole hog butchery is used in a combination of appetizers, small plates, and entrees. Pork Belly Cubano, Boudin Eggrolls, Pork Loin Cheesesteak, along with Birria Tacos highlight the menu. Guests on our Team Building Tours rave about the boudin egg rolls and the pork belly skewers!

3. Wingman Brewing Company

656 St. Louis Street  

Wingman Brewing is the newest in a lineup of breweries in Mobile. Wingman is an offshoot of Fairhope Brewing Co. On tap, you’ll find a number of experimental type beers and seltzers not found in stores or cans… yet! You’ll also find the iconic Fairhope Brewing flavors like Cheap Sunglasses, Take the Causeway, and the popular Blue Steel.

4. Bapu’s Food Stop

6345 Airport Blvd.

Bapu’s is a place unlike any in Mobile. Bapu’s serves Mediterranean- America dishes but they’re most known for their Bingos. Bingos are their take on a Mediterranean chicken and steak wrap that is Halal friendly. They also serve rice bowls with protein and salads. The Syrian born owner has brought something completely unique to the Mobile area.

5. Steak and Taters Bar and Grill

5045 Cottage Hill Road

Steak and Taters is a steakhouse now open in West Mobile! You’ll find a menu of steaks – ribeyes, sirloin, and filets along with a steak burger, hamburger steak, and steak tips with gravy. Add a salad bar, vegetables or appetizers like loaded fries, fried pickles, or fried mushrooms. They’re open now dinner every night of the week and lunch on Thursday-Sunday. 

6. Lartigue’s on the Hill

4464 Old Shell Road

Lartigue’s has gained quite the notoriety in Coastal Alabama for fresh seafood. This family-run seafood market, originally opened in Mobile in 1978 and later expanded into Baldwin County and the wholesale business, they are now open on Old Shell Road near McGregor in the Spring Hill community after renovating the former Pollman’s Bake Shop.

7. The Breakfast Spot

119 Dauphin Street

A new brunch spot has emerged in Downtown Mobile! The Breakfast Spot is wonderfully located across from Bienville Square, serving brunch on the weekends. They are currently open Thursday-Sunday beginning at 8:30am but even stay open for dinner.

8. Brew Y’all 

2323 Hillcrest Road

A new locally owned coffee shop has emerged in West Mobile! Brew Y’all is now open for coffee fix serving latte’s, matcha’s, frappe’s, and more. They even serve sweet tea, lemonade, and Arnold Palmer’s! They have all the milk options you could want, plus a food menu of croissants, mini-pancakes, and cinnamon rolls. They are open 7 days a week.

9. All the Smoke Seafood

840 Montlimar Drive

All the Smoke is bringing “all the smoke” with their menu. Seafood, wings, oysters, burgers, chicken sandwiches, crawfish, crab legs, and more, along with brunch on the weekends. This locally owned restaurant will provide a great atmosphere in West Mobile.

10. Sticky Rooster Bar and Grill

5335 US 90

Mobile’s newest bar and grill is open in the Tillman’s Corner area of Mobile. It’s a late night bar that stays open until 2am but serving food throughout the day. Wings, pizzas, Sticky Fries, and BBQ nachos fill the menu along with a wide range of drink specials.

11. Yummy 

Bel Air Mall

Recently opened in Bel Air Mall is Yummy. You’ll find baked goods, ice creams, cakes, smoothies, bubble teas, and even a Pokemon menu! The highlight of this visit is the ambiance which is unlike anything in Mobile!

On the Move:

1. Cotton State BBQ

107 St. Francis Street

Cotton State BBQ has been a staple on in their historic building on St. Michael Street near Bienville Square for almost a decade. Now they are on the move to the RSA Trustmark Bank Building where they look to continue the same great BBQ at a new block of downtown. 

2. Stevie’s Kitchen

110 S. Florida Street

Stevie’s Kitchen will be on the move in Midtown to the former Whistle Stop restaurant on S. Florida Street. The new location will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner with incredible decor that Stevie’s is known for. Stevie’s is also now open at the U.S.S. Alabama Battleship! 

3. Slurp Society

609 Dauphin St.

Slurp Society has quickly gained a reputation as a must-eat place in Downtown Mobile since opening in 2022. Now, they’re moving to Dauphin Street beside Wintzell’s Oyster House in the former FIVE location. Expect to see a few menu items, a large bar area with craft cocktails, and a private event space that should be utilized nicely with the fun decor and friendly staff. Chain Restaurants:

1. Toasted Yolk 

Taking over the former Fuego location is Toasted Yolk. The Houston, Texas based brunch chain should bring a collection of brunch favorites to their new midtown location. 

2. Tijuana Flats 

A Tex-Mex favorite is back in Mobile. Tijuana Flats is located in the Pinebrook Shopping Center at Airport and McGregor serving tacos, bowls, and burritos. 

3. Graze Craze 

Customize your own cheese and charcuterie board at Graze Craze. Now open in Midtown on Airport Blvd. next to Ruth’s Chris.
