“My favorite meal this year was at FIVE. I’ve eaten at FIVE a bazillion times, but this was my favorite because it was my first post quarantine meal. When I walked in, I almost cried. We ordered Uptown Chicken, Cuban sandwich, and cocktails. Not only was it absolutely delicious,  It was an emotional experience. As a food tour operator, food is our livelihood and this one experience gave me hope that our downtown food scene would be revived after such a hard season.”

“Some other favorites were the beef filet and Coconut Cake at NoJa.”

”I find myself sneaking into FOY any chance I can get and ordering my favorite salad, Liz’s Salad. The ingredients are so fresh and tasty!”

“For those out in WeMo – stop by Roma Cafe! This small Italian eatery is always a delicious choice and has some of the most generous portions around.

Whether you’re downtown, way out West, or right in the middle of everything, Mediterranean Sandwich. Company is always a safe bet for delicious food. This local chain is a great option for a casual bite, quick lunch, or to have delivered during game night. Gyros with a Gulf Coast twist!

Another option with multiple locations across town is LoDa BierGarten. Their fun menu has unique and delicious items, many named after local historical figures or landmarks, and you’ll definitely be full when you leave. For the beer lover, they have an impressive selection to choose from, including several locally brewed options. Even the pickiest eater in your crew is bound to find something to love here.”

“My number one dish for 2020 was without a doubt the Causeway Hot Catfish Bowl from Ed’s Seafood Shed- hot catfish, cheese grits, greens combined together in one bowl is my go-to dish!”

“My favorite food experience this year was from SoCu. We were invited to a benefit hosted by Woodford Reserve in support of Feeding the Gulf Coast.   We were not only informed about the fact that 1 in 4 kids have food insecurities but chef Erica Barrett knocked the menu out of the park! We started with Woodford BBQ Shrimp, Mob-town Gumbo. Entrees included 48 hour brined tomahawk Porkchop with Woodford Reserve Bourbon Reduction with Sweet Potato au Gratin and braised seasonal greens. Dessert was fresh orchard apple pie a la mode with Bourbon Salted Caramel.”

“My favorite dessert of this year was the Blondie Sundae from Old Dutch Ice Cream Shoppe in Midtown. A brownie, vanilla ice cream, whip cream, caramel, and almonds. Absolutely fantastic!”

“NoJa- began a fixed 4 course menu with incredible dishes. Always 5 stars. Great atmosphere. Excellent service.”

”Joe Cain Cafe. Food to go or eat in the piano or hotel bar. A big surprise for large portions, always tasty and very affordable. Modify dish to your taste.”

“A hidden surprise, Fathoms Lounge bar at the Renaissance Riverview Hotel – indoor, outdoor seating, friendly bar, and live music.”

“Best late night walk downtown with a small bite – King Dog Stand at Cathedral Square on weekends. Load up your dog and visit with locals. Music included.”

”My favorite lunch spot is Von’s Bistro. I enjoy the Chicken Pad Thai Rice noodles with egg, sprouts, carrot, peanuts, seasoned w/ Pad Thai sauce.”

”For dessert MoBay Beignet Co. is a great place to take the family. Big, puffy beignets topped with buttercream syrup, you can’t beat.”
