10 DATE NIGHT IDEAS AROUND MOBILE BAY – SUMMER 2021

A lot of great events are going on this summer in and around the Mobile and Eastern Shore area. Here’s ten date night ideas for you and your significant other to get out and enjoy this summer.


1. Dauphin Island Sunday Sunset

Did you know Dauphin Island is known as “The Sunset Capital of Alabama”? Come down to the island on the last Sunday of each month for the Dauphin Island Sunday Sunset Concert. On June 27 at 6pm Eric Erdman will be playing live on the west end. Bring your lawn chairs and find out why Dauphin Island is the sunset capital.

2. ArtWalk

Art Walk is a great way to spend a relaxing evening in Downtown Mobile. Enjoy dinner at a number of great restaurants. Numerous local vendors are set up with booths along the blocked off streets. For June 11th the theme is to celebrate National Pride Month. On July 9th the theme will be to mark MOB Music Fest going on that weekend. Also, dust off the skates and roll through the streets of downtown starting at 6pm on ArtWalk nights.

3. Blakeley State Park

Blakeley State Park has a summer full of events. Take a hike on their beautiful trails while exploring the park or take a Sunset Cruise from 5 Rivers Delta Center on June 25. Watch the city of Mobile’s spectacular fireworks show from the Mobile Delta on July 4 in a pontoon cruise that evening. 

4. Bienville Bites Food Tour & Taste of Fairhope

A food tour is a great outing to spend with your significant other. Taste all different types of food at multiple restaurant stops in three hours. You’ll also learn about the city and hear stories you did not know. Bienville Bites Food Tour in Mobile and Taste of Fairhope in Fairhope have tours that run every week throughout the summer.

5. Dinner and Fishing in Fairhope 

Enjoy an evening in Fairhope with dinner at Sunset Pointe at Fly Creek Marina. Give a toast to the sun as the bell rings every sunset as the sun goes down over Fly Creek and Mobile Bay. After dinner, take your fishing pole and tackle to the Fairhope Pier for night fishing.

6. Enjoy a Concert

Concerts and live music are back in full swing this summer. The Saenger Theater features shows from Travis Tritt and Jason Isbell. Soul Kitchen will host Ashley McBryde and Frank Foster. The 4th annual MOB Music Fest takes place July 9-11 in Downtown Mobile. Enjoy free music from all genres the entire weekend. There’s live shows almost every night of the week at the People’s Room of Mobile to enjoy.

7. Outdoor Movie Night

Enjoy a movie on the grounds in Fairhope with the Glow in the Park Summer Movie Series. Each month the movie nights are shown at Fairhopers Community Park. The schedule this summer is June 10, July 8, and Aug. 12. Bring a blanket, chair, or dinner to enjoy on the grounds. Free popcorn is also given to each guest who attends.

8. Tour de Food Trucks

Tour de Food Trucks is a monthly event hosted by the city of Mobile to promote its beautiful parks. Every 3rd Tuesday of the month multiple food trucks will be set up from 4-9pm at a different city park.

June 15 – The Pavilion at Dog River Park

July 20 – Arlington Park at Brookley

Aug. 17 – Tricentennial Park

9. Perdido Queen Dinner Cruise

Take a cruise down the Mobile River on Mobile’s dinner paddle boat cruise, the Perdido Queen.  Enjoy the sunset over the port of Mobile while enjoying food from Dauphin’s, a cash bar, live entertainment, and music.

10. Take an Art Class

Partake in an art class this summer! AR Workshop has a date night workshop on Friday nights. A wood workshop for the gentlemen and even a brunch and boards class. Eastern Shore Art Center in Downtown Fairhope and Coastal Makers Art Studio in Downtown Mobile have events throughout the summer to attend.
