1. Mardi Gras Parade

Mardi Gras in May? It’s happening! Friday, May 21st members from dozens of Mardi Gras organizations will roll along a modified parade route with Moon Pies, beads, and all the great throws. This is all to celebrate the commissioning on May 22 of the USS Mobile built by Austal.
2. Tour de Food truck

Matthews Park
Every 3rd Tuesday of the month, the city of Mobile hosts Tour de Food Trucks at different Mobile city parks. This month, Matthews Park will host all the good food. There will also be games, trivia and live music beginning at 4pm.
3. Mother’s Day at the Battle House
May 9
Battle House Hotel
Celebrate mom at the Battle House with a fabulous brunch in the Oakleigh Garden room. A full buffet and valet parking will be included.
4. Neighborhoods on Tap
May 26
Cedar Street Social Club
Restore Mobile is hosting Neighborhoods on Tap at Cedar St. Social Club to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month. Have a beer or seltzer with the great folks at Restore Mobile and if you own a historic home, grab a yard sign promoting historic preservation.
5. Bienville Bites Food Tour

May is a great month for a food tour. Bienville Bites has tours every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in May. Come celebrate mom for Mother’s Day weekend or enjoy our special Mardi Gras themed tours the week of May 21 centered around the USS Mobile commissioning.
6. Gumbo cook off

Cooper Riverside Park
The 24th annual Rufus B. Lee Gumbo Cook-off is back downtown at Cooper Riverside Park. Teams will compete for the best gumbo in Mobile and you can come be the judge. All proceeds help support Gulfquest who will also host lots of activities and there will be free popcorn and hot dogs for the little ones.
7. Great Firkin Fest
May 15
Moe’s Original Bar B Que (Downtown)
Come out to the downtown Moe’s Original Bar B Que for the 7th annual Great Firkin Fest. It’s a craft beer festival featuring local and regional breweries that add a unique flavor in a stainless steel firkin. Games like cornhole and a keg toss will also be played.
8. Kentucky Derby
May 1
Celebrate the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby in Mobile. Haberdasher will host the Kentucky Turtle Derby on Saturday afternoon with Kentucky bourbon, Mint Juleps, and Slow-jitos. Ice Box will have a best dressed contest along with other prizes.
9. Boyington Oak Festival
May 29
Downtown Mobile
Murder, mystery, and a tree revolve around the legend of the Boyington Oak. A young man’s innocence proven by a 186 year old oak. A play depicting the scene along with trolley tours of Mobile highlight the Boyington Oak Festival.
10. Touch a Truck
May 15
Hank Aaron Stadium
Touch a Truck is a great family friendly event especially for the little ones. It’s a hands on opportunity to explore safety trucks and meet the drivers behind the wheel. All proceeds benefit Rapahope.
