Actually there are a lot better ways.. maybe you should just go and watch everyone else and enjoy the black eyed pea, ham and greens that will be served for guests that day. That sounds much better! 2. 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl

The 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl is back again for its 68th year in Mobile. Come see the future stars of the NFL. On the list this year include Heisman Trophy winner, Baker Mayfield, Mason Rudolph, along with several former Alabama, Auburn and South Alabama players as they compete in front many NFL dignitaries who you just might run into if you are downtown at all the week of.

3. Underwater Forest Documentary

Gulf Coast Exploreum IMAX Theatre 

Just off the coast of Alabama in the Gulf of Mexico lays an ancient cypress forest some 60 feet underwater that scientists believe dates back to the ice age when sea levels were 400 feet lower than today. If you haven’t seen this amazing documentary you really don’t want to miss it on the big screen of the IMAX.

4. Mardi Gras

How have we gone this far in the article without mentioning Mardi Gras?!? Yes, the carnival season kicks off in Downtown Mobile on January 19 when the Conde Cavaliers parade through the streets. Go to for a full schedule, parade routes and everything Mardi Gras in the birthplace of it all.

Saenger Theatre 

Alabama’s own Grammy Award winner Jason Isbell is coming live to the Saenger. He is sure to put on another epic performance in Mobile.

8. Ice Skating at The Fort

All Month Long

Fort of Colonial Mobile

It’s cold as ice out there so why not strap on those ice skates at the Fort? All month long on Wednesday’s - Sunday’s the Fort will open their never melt surface for all Mobilians to enjoy.

9. First Light Marathon

January 14

Downtown Mobile

Mobile’s first marathon of the year kicks off January 14 with the Servis 1st Bank First Light Marathon. The marathon, half marathon and 5 person relay starts at 7:30 the 1.2 mile fun run starts at 2. Run through historic neighborhoods of Downtown Mobile and benefit L’Arche Mobile on this Boston Qualifier course.

10. Curious George at the Exploreum

Hurry out and take the kids or grandkids to the Gulf Coast Exploreum for the Curious George exhibit. George leaves town on January 7. Storytime with George is on January 6. Your kids will love for this.
