Take a sneak peak at a new eatery going inside a former Downtown Mobile bank vault, that includes as a “secret door” entrance.

Las Floriditas will be located inside a former bank vault

A restaurant inside the basement of the RSA Trustmark Building? Inside a former bank vault? With a secret door entrance? Now, I have your attention.

Bienville Bites was recently given an exclusive tour of the newest restaurant to hit Downtown Mobile, coming soon in the Spring 2019.

Bob Baumhower has been known to Mobilians and Gulf Coast residents long before his days in the restaurant industry, when he was a star defensive tackle for Bear Bryant and the Crimson Tide.

These days, Bob owns thirteen restaurants throughout the state of Alabama. Two restaurants in Mobile, Baumhower’s Victory Grille inside the Shoppes of Bel Air and Dauphin’s located on the 34th floor of the RSA Trustmark Building. His next restaurant might be the most unique of them all.

Las Floriditas will be a Cuban style bar and eatery located under ground, inside the basement of the RSA Trustmark Building inside a former bank vault. The vault door is still intact and will be a large part of the decor of the former First National Bank Building. The former deposit boxes will all be repurposed as cabinets. Though none of that compares to the most unique thing of all, the secret door entrance. A large bookshelf slides back to reveal the entrance where patrons can enjoy Cuban themed food and drink.

Las Floriditas is planned to open in the Spring - Summer of 2019 and will be open nightly from 4pm - 2am. A great after-hours spot for guests that have dined at Dauphin’s or anywhere for dinner in Downtown Mobile.
